A great way to learn Hebrew is through music.
I learned Hebrew and French just by listening to music, reading the lyrics and looking up words I didn't get, and singing along.
Yehudim (The Jewish people)-Metziut Nifredet (Separate reality 95')This is the first album by one of the most prominent rock bands in Hebrew. The Yehudim play great energetic rock, that resembles classic rock in the guitars and sounds. The band was formed by husband and wife Orit Shachaf and Tom Petrover (They make out on stage a lot). Orit leads the band with her larger then life scratchy rock vocals and this album presents a collection of the best ass kicking songs they have ever written. Shalom Hanoch-The best of…(Triple collection)Think of the rolling stones in Hebrew. Shalom Hanoch has been a prominent rocker in Israel since the 60s. He plays a telecaster and makes some groovy rock'n'roll sounds with it. His ballads are sophisticated in composition and his lyrics are often Hebrew poetry composed by the best Israeli poets. What better way to study Hebrew than masters of language composed by master musicians? Yoni Bloch-Hergelim Ra'im (Bad Habbits 2007)Yoni Bloch is a talented musician discovered through a "myspace" type website and turned into a musical success. His songs are written in modern Hebrew, and are sweet, young and fresh. His lyrics are often light and amusing, and he makes for a fun listening and fun Hebrew learning!
Bari Sacharof-Cham Al Hayare'ach (Hot on the moon 95)Bari is more of an indie Hebrew rocker that lives in the main stream. He has had many hits but his sound and sandy voice are on the fringe side. His music is original and energetic, and his lyrics are a perfect match. Sinergia-Margish Acher(Feeling different 96')This is for the ones who love Linkin' Park and Limp Biscuit. We want you to have the pleasure of learning Hebrew from the music of your choice, and this band represents this genre in Israel. |
