The word "day" in Hebrew is "Yom" (יום).
We add this word in front of every day's name because except for Saturday Hebrew days of the week are spoken as:

• The first day
• The second day
• The third day

• Sunday- Yom Rishon-יום ראשון
• Monday- Yom Sheni- יום שני
• Tuesday- Yom Shlishi-שלישי יום
• Wednsday- Yom Revi'i- יום רביעי
• Thursday-Yom Chamishi-יום חמישי
• Friday-Yom Shishi-יום שישי
• Saturday-Yom Shabbat-יום שבת
